Welcome Guest Blogger Lisa K!

So, I thought you would be proud. I actually used a pan and the stove this morning, instead of a box and a bowl. Jamie had a tough night with a little fever and headache, so I made him something my mom usually spoils him with. Nothing exciting, but tasty. I wish it had some clever name, and maybe you can challenge your readers to invent one. But it really is just "an egg in a hole." I use a juice glass to make the hole in the bread and fry it up. The trick is to get the heat just right, so the bread doesn't burn before the egg is done. And it's not for dieters. You have to use butter (or fake butter like we do).

First, what an adorable picture of a seusian family. Was that taken at the Fairy Tale Ball?
My mom used to make the same thing, and she had a name for it, but I cannot remember. If I recall I will post again. I may have to make that tomorrow morning. I seem to remember that it tasted best if the juice glass was one of those Flintstone jelly jars they used to sell that you could use as a juice glass after.

Hi Steve - yes, it was the Fairy Tale Ball. I was Mrs. Mayor, so I was working, but I made Jamie's costume to match me, and you can't tell, but Paul's tie is a Seuss tie, too. I have had a lot of fun making Jamie's costumes every year. My most successful to date has been his "Beast" costume. He was awful cute in a Michael Jackson "Thriller" wig! I have to get crackin' for this year...

I have always called it "eggy in a cup"
and I got an email from someone who said they called it Chicken in a Basket....I wonder which came first?

My mother called it a "Birds Nest". It was the only way I could eat eggs as a kid.

Whatever happened to good ol pigs in blankets?

I have never had pigs in a blanket - can you explain what that is exactly?

My Mom made these for us and called it "ox eye eggs". We're from the midwest, you know.

JB,
Pigs in a blanket!? Ooo I haven't had those in forever. My mom made em with vienna sausages wrapped in refrigerator roll dough and bake. ALWAYS eat by dipping in mustard!
Definitely making these for you!!

They made the egg in hole in Moonstruck...we called it Toad in a hole.

Toad in a hole! That is my favorite so far. Hilarious.
Yes - please make pigs in a blanket for me - clearly I have been pig deprived!! Take pity. And on a side note I love Vienna Sausages - (we used to call my little brother Vienna Sausage but that is a different story.)

Ha Ha, for the longest time, we'uns from the sticks called them Vy-eena sausages. Them's good eats!
