Remember when?

Cell phones looked like this? Well, Nene's still does!
Seriously, when my friend Nene was at the airport a security guard stopped her to tell her she couldn't bring her home phone on the plane with her. It is so vintage - and she refuses to get another one. Just had to share that!

Happy Birthday America!!

Matt and Christine's patriotic contribution.

Robert's blueberry (?) short bread
fruit tart - also Robert's
Don't remember what this was called but guess who made it? Robert!
These desserts were just the end of a very fun 4Th of July Celebration. Missing from these pics is a picture of Andy's scrumptious Mango Mousse. The Recipe can be found at http://allrecipes.com/recipe/cuban-mango-mousse/detail.aspx
it was awesome - if anyone tries to make it please let me know how it turns out!

It was so nice to kick back with these low maintenance friends. Thanks to the Mistress and master of ceremonies Erin and Tony.

My Suprise Blog Gift!

I got a package from Amazon in the mail a couple days ago. It was heavy and rather large. It is not my Birthday or any other occation. I thought to myself...what did I order? I racked my brain but couldn't think of a single thing. I opened the package to find this wonderful book on cooking pork! I wrote a blog entry about my lack of pork experience (cooking it - not eating it) and so Betsy and Tom sent me this beautiful and very imformative book! Thanks guys!! I will post some recipes and pics as I try out some of these yummy dishes!

Oh, to be a little Sister

I am thankful her homentachen doesn't say "I'm with Stupid".
I am constantly reminded of how little I have done in my life compared to my big sister. She is so smart and has traveled and knows how to spell and use grammar correctly and lives in paradise where it never gets cold and for those of you that might say "oh, Muffin Face, you have done cool things too." Let me present exhibit A. Here is a excerpt from her "Random Facts" list next to an excerpt from mine.

she said: I was a competitive swimmer until college and was 15Th in the U.S. in the 1650 yard freestyle when I was 17 years old.

I said: Robert sat next to me at brunch.

She said:In 1989, I (accidentally and completely inadvertently) smuggled drugs from an Israeli casino boat on the Red Sea through international waters to the shores of Egypt. (I thought I was picking up mayonnaise for the three types of sandwiches we sold to the gamblers). I also (accidentally and completely inadvertently) led police to uncover the drug and "hookers as compensation for losing gamblers" operation by reporting the owners of the casino boat for forcing me to throw trash bags into the Red Sea.

I said: I Love corn dogs.

8 Random facts - I have been tagged!

Ok, this time I have been tagged to do the 8 Random Facts.
Here are the rules:
- I have to post these rules before I give you the facts (check)

- Each participant posts eight random facts about themselves.
- Tagees should write a blogpost of eight random facts about themselves.
- At the end of the post, eight more bloggers are tagged (named and shamed).
- Go to their blog, leave a comment telling them they're tagged (cut and run).

I am not sure I know eight other bloggers to pass this on to but I will send it to as many folks as I can!

The Mama's

They had crayons so I guess we were allowed to draw stuff...
The mama's

Happy Birthday BFF's Mom! we had brunch on Sunday before BFF had to slip out for his matinee. Cancan was interesting. The service there is notoriously bad - unless you are at the bar. I must say at the bar you are treated like royalty and I have grown quite fond (to say the least) of some of their bar staff. With that said the waitstaff is just bad. The food was very good though. HNS ordered the French toast which looked like a loaf of very dense bread. It couldn't have been bad. I had an omelet with Gruyere and ham. The ham was salty and the cheese was buttery. Yummy! A good time was had by all and it is always a fun time when these two trouble makers get together!

Chillin with my NFF's

The Anti pasta

Holy Cannoli

I don't even know where to start so I will start with the food. Saturday my Mother came into town to see my BFF in Into the Woods with his mother. More on that later.

Saturday afternoon my Mother and I were invited to lunch with one of my new Favorite couples. Since I am leery of posting real names - (unless you are an actor and have had your name splashed across everything already or you have specifically asked me to be called something else) I will call them my new fabulous friends or NFF's for short. So - Mother and I travel to Monument Ave where the lions greet us along with huge beautiful flowers in the front yard. We have wonderful cheese and crackers and fruit while we sip wine and talk frantically and excitedly to our NFF's. This is where time just stands still - you have no idea how much time has passed because you are having so much fun and enjoying yourself and basically basking in the idea that you must be pretty cool to have these folks as friends. We were eventually brought into the kitchen and a beautiful spread of anti pasta awaited us. We had more wine with the anti pasta and a wonderful fresh pumpkin ravioli in a olive oil butter sauce. Is your mouth watering yet? Mine is! I didn't get a picture of the pasta because I ate it too fast! It was accompanied by fresh bread from Cancan. The meal ended with homemade cannoli. I would have married it if I could. She filled the sweet cannoli filling with crumbs of chocolate and pistachios and white raisins. I savored every last bite. I am sure glad they didn't go to any trouble to entertain us! :) Everything is beautiful in their house - they have somehow struck a cord between upscale and non-pretentious. Their home is filled with art and furniture from their travels. I am sure they think I am a big dork for taking pictures but I couldn't pass up the chance to share it. With all I have mentioned about their lovely house and amazing food the thing I look forward to the most would be just seeing them again. I hope it is soon!
