The auction is something I look forward to every year. I have missed only a few in the past, like 20 years. This year it fell on my Dad's birthday so there was even more fun to be had.
Steve and I stayed in a beautiful (spooky) hotel. The first night we got in late after being out reuniting with Pop, Kitty, Sissy and Beth (and Sydney) at Sydney's restaurant. You may remember last years post when we all ate there on my Pop's Birthday. It was really one of my favorite days ever spent in P'town. So the first night Steve and I got in really late only to realize our beautiful hotel room was situated right over where the band was playing in the club below us. At this point it was 1 am and we knew they would have to finish up soon so we went downstairs, had a drink and joined the fun until the music stopped.
The next day was the auction and Pop's Birthday. Unfortunately Kitty was not feeling well and could not be there. It was my first auction without her there and I hope it never happens again. It was sad not having her with us. Kitty works tirelessly on the auction every year and this year was no exception but by the time of the auction - she had to go home and get some rest.

The theme of the auction was Winter Wonderland. The decorations were beautiful and the food was yummy and plentiful. This is the Temple's annual fundraising event and the entire town joins us every year. I am not kidding - the entire town! There was actually a nativity scene in the main room. It made me chuckle to see one in the Temple social hall but Pop pointed out the fact that A. It was a beautiful Nativity scene and B. Most attendees were not Jewish.
Wish I had gotten a pic of it to show you - it still makes me chuckle. I had to restrain myself from running away with the Baby Jesus.
Later that night Steve and I returned to our hotel. We had to be up early to get Steve to work in Richmond. We had forgotten all about being above the band. We packed all our things up and went to the front desk and told them we needed a new room ASAP -- far away from the band.
We ended up with a huge suite on the top floor - as far away from the restaurant as anyone could get. Problem was, the room was so cool we did not want to sleep. We sat up a bit in the living room area enjoying our good fortune.
