Congrats to Chase and Stage 1 theatre company.

Chase Kniffen and Ali Thibodeau

Last night I attended Ragtime in Concert to benefit Stage 1 theatre company - Richmond's newest theatre company. Chase Kniffen, the Artistic Director, I first met when he played Slightly Soiled in Theatre IV's first production of Peter Pan. He was 11, maybe? I can still remember him talking to me backstage and painting my nails. Hey - I didn't make him or anything - anyway - it is hard to not picture someone forever how they were when you met them - but after last night I will always picture Chase the way he looked when he walked onto the stage to introduce this production. He introduced himself and his new company and spoke with ease, confidence and humility. Then the show started and I began to experience one of the best times I have ever had in a theatre (on stage or off). It was inspiring as an actor and I was filled with pride knowing that all those on stage including a full orchestra had donated their time for this benefit. I am so proud to be a part of a community that supports and inspires one another to this extent. I urge everyone reading this to become a season subscriber and support this great new company. If you don't live in town than perhaps you should buy a season subscription for your daughter who does live in town. Just a thought. (they are only $70- can't beat that!)

Scott and I went to school with him!!!! I think Middle and High School but it may have been only one of them! I remember him doing Peter Pan when he was in school!

How cool A.K. small world!
- I was Wendy in that production. Then he went on to do the national tour and ended up playing John on Broadway. You should see a play if there is one showing next time you are in town. He is so talented.

I went to the rehearsal the night before and was completely blown away. I had planned to sing in the ensemble until we found out Paul would be out of town in San Diego. And I'm soo sad that I couldn't be there. All of our friends are so wonderful - I got weepy at the rehearsal when they were still stopping and starting.

Chase used to sit on my lap during rehearsals for Secret Garden down at the Mill. He had just turned 10. He's a little bigger now. I wonder if I could still hold him.
